No teaser. No countdown post. No line in the press release. For three minutes inside the Warfaze × Michael Jackson tribute, a hologram of Michael Jackson stood on a Bangladeshi concert stage for the first time in the country’s history — and the room found out at the exact moment it happened.

01 — The Precedent

This Wasn’t Studio Z’s First Hologram

A year earlier, on 5 August 2025, Studio Z served as the holographic show partner for a July Uprising remembrance tribute in Niketan, Dhaka — turning a year of protest, sacrifice and victory into a 3D holographic light experience. That night was memory. Warfaze was spectacle. Between the two, Studio Z had already proven the technology could hold a room in Bangladesh.

The Michael Jackson tribute was the first time the technology was built for a concert stage — not a memorial, not an installation. A live audience, a live band, and 180 seconds where none of it could go wrong.

02 — The Reference Point

Las Vegas, 2014. Dhaka, 2026.

Michael Jackson’s hologram debuted at the Billboard Music Awards on 18 May 2014, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena — “Slave to the Rhythm,” directed by Jamie King, backed by the Michael Jackson Estate, nearly six months in build. Twelve years later, a Bangladeshi stage carried the same idea into a room of 2,500 people.

Different scale. Different budget. Same illusion — the King of Pop, back in the room.

03 — The Sequence

How The Room Found Out

It started as sound before it was sight — the “hee-hee” call, unmistakably Michael, cutting across the room from opposite LED wings, left and right, before anything appeared.

The holographic screen lit. Michael Jackson stood there in the exact costume from his 1993 Super Bowl performance.

He multiplied — one holographic Michael became several, moving in the same choreography, in the same instant.

They vanished. The spotlight found a real human being standing exactly where the hologram had been.

The sunglasses moment landed — the same pause, the same throw from the original — except this time the sunglasses flew across the stage as a holographic object, gigantic, impossible to miss from any seat in the house.

The real performer danced alongside two to four holographic Michaels at once, sharing the same stage, the same light.

They vanished together. The Warfaze logo built in their place and flew back to the LED wall — the moment the illusion released the room.

Blackout. Then, one by one, to the groove of “Billie Jean,” the band walked into their own spotlights — drummer first, ending on the vocalist arriving exactly as he opened his mouth to sing.

Emran Hossain, Known To Bangladesh As Michael Emran

The performer inside the illusion wasn’t a stand-in. Emran Hossain — known across the country as Michael Emran — has carried this role publicly for years, featured as Michael Jackson on Ityadi, Bangladesh’s longest-running television magazine programme, and in the Jump Keds television commercial. Two of the most recognized touchpoints in Bangladeshi pop culture, both already carrying his face as Michael Jackson before this stage ever existed.

05 — The Idea, Not The Method

A Holographic Illusion Is Not A Visual Effect. It Is A Light Agreement.

Every department gives something up for it to work. The console holds an exact state. Follow spots stand down. Cameras respect a boundary they can’t see marked anywhere. Choreography stays inside a line that exists only in rehearsal notes. The audio cue lands on the frame, not near it.

None of that shows up on stage. What shows up is 180 seconds where a legend’s most famous gestures happened again — live, in a room that wasn’t told to expect it.

First live concert hologram in Bangladesh’s history — designed, built and delivered end to end by Studio Z.

FAQ

Questions People Ask

Was the Michael Jackson at the Warfaze concert a real hologram?

It was a live holographic illusion — a real-time visual technique that placed a holographic Michael Jackson on stage in front of the audience, distinct from pre-recorded video or a body double alone.

Who performed as Michael Jackson at the Warfaze tribute?

Emran Hossain, known publicly as Michael Emran, performed the live segments. He has previously portrayed Michael Jackson on Ityadi and in the Jump Keds television commercial.

Has a live hologram been used on a concert stage in Bangladesh before?

No. The Warfaze × Michael Jackson tribute at Hall of Fame, BICC, was the first time a live holographic illusion was built for a concert stage in Bangladesh. Studio Z had previously used the technology for a July Uprising remembrance tribute in Niketan, Dhaka, in August 2025.

How does the Dhaka hologram compare to Michael Jackson’s 2014 Las Vegas hologram?

The 2014 Billboard Music Awards hologram was built over roughly six months by a Hollywood team backed by the Michael Jackson Estate. The 2026 Dhaka illusion was designed and delivered by a single Bangladeshi studio, Studio Z, at a fraction of the scale and budget — carrying the same core idea to a new stage for the first time.

Who choreographed and shot the holographic content?

Stormy Sky handled both the choreography for the Michael Jackson tribute set and the holographic content shoot, working as a single team across both disciplines.
